Montessori

In these formative years, often referred to as the “Exploratory Years,” children experience significant cognitive, emotional, and physical development. Our Montessori curriculum is grounded in the philosophy that children learn best through self-directed activity, hands-on learning, and collaborative play. We offer a nurturing and stimulating environment where each child’s natural desire to learn is actively supported and guided.

The Montessori method’s hallmark is central to our curriculum: specially designed learning materials and activities that encourage exploration and discovery. These materials are crafted to naturally guide the children through language, mathematics, sensorial experiences, practical life skills, and cultural awareness, laying a comprehensive foundation for their intellectual and personal growth.

Our Montessori classrooms are vibrant spaces of storytelling, cultural exploration, and rich oral language experiences. This approach enriches the children’s vocabulary and comprehension, serving as a gateway to literacy. Concurrently, we integrate contemporary educational strategies, fostering mathematical understanding through concrete manipulative materials that embody abstract concepts like numeracy, geometry, and spatial reasoning.

Our curriculum encompasses elements of Science, arts, Music, and physical education, ensuring holistic development. Children engage in creative and contemporary activities such as gardening, art projects, musical exploration, and interactive digital learning tools, making their educational journey dynamic and relevant to the modern world.

Kindergarten

At NPS SMV, we are committed to offering a well-rounded education that blends the wisdom of tradition with the innovation of the modern era. Our journey with students begins as they enter Kindergarten at the age of four, extending through their progression to Class 1. These early years, often referred to as the “Foundation Years,” are a period of remarkable physical, emotional, and intellectual growth. During this crucial phase, we place a strong emphasis on nurturing creativity, promoting physical fitness, fostering constructive socialization, and introducing fundamental language and arithmetic skills to lay a robust foundation for every child’s competencies.

Our unique Kindergarten curriculum reflects a thoughtful fusion of time-honored teaching methods and contemporary educational practices. We strike a harmonious balance between teacher-guided activities and child-driven exploration, instilling a passion for learning that endures throughout their educational journey.

We firmly believe in the power of storytelling and a rich oral language tradition as essential elements of our curriculum. These elements provide a captivating backdrop for children’s initial steps into the world of literacy. In our language-enriched environment, students immerse themselves in captivating stories, recite poetry, and learn new songs. Simultaneously, we utilize modern educational techniques to foster mathematical skills, including patterns, grouping, sorting, and geometric shapes. Our curriculum extends beyond the traditional subjects, encompassing science, Arts & Crafts, and Music, thus offering a well-rounded Kindergarten experience. Furthermore, our students engage in various contemporary learning opportunities, including nature walks, painting, puppetry, digital games, and movement activities, ensuring that their educational experience remains dynamic and relevant.

To gauge each child’s progress, we employ a “Continuous Informal Evaluation” system, which incorporates classwork, theme-based worksheets, and observation sessions. This approach allows us to harness the benefits of both traditional and modern assessment methods to ensure comprehensive development.

At NPS SMV, we are dedicated to providing a holistic and enriching Kindergarten experience that harmoniously combines the values of tradition with the advantages of modern education. Our goal is to prepare students not only for academic success but also to equip them with the critical thinking, adaptability, and creativity required to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.
